Hyundai makes 6 airbags as standard on all cars: Hyundai India has announced on Tuesday, October 3, that going forward all its cars will be equipped with six airbags as a standard safety feature. This makes Hyundai as the first mass-market car manufacturer to adopt this comprehensive safety standard across its entire lineup of cars. Hyundai Verna had recently received a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP.

Previously, while Hyundai offered six airbags as standard in most of its vehicle range, the Grand i10 Nios, Aura, and Venue models were exceptions, equipped with four airbags as standard and an option to upgrade to six airbags on select higher-spec variants. With this new announcement, Hyundai ensures that all models, across all variants, will come equipped with six airbags as part of their standard safety package.

However, the announcement means that going forward, all of Hyundai's cars will come with 6 standard airbags. As of now, Grand i10 Nios comes with 4 airbags, Aura is factory-fitted with 4 airbags, i20 and i20 N Line get 6 airbags each as standard, the Exter was launched with 6 airbags as standard, the Venue gets only 2 airbags, the Venue N Line gets 4 airbags as standard, the other top-of-the-line models that already get 6 airbags as standard include Verna, Alcazar, Creta, Tucson, Ioniq 5 and the Kona electric EV model.

Earlier this year, Hyundai had made three-point seatbelts with seatbelt reminders a standard feature for all seats across all models and variants. Notably, out of the 13 different models that Hyundai offers in the Indian market, 10 already include Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Hill-Start Assist Control as standard safety features. The exceptions to this are the Exter, Grand i10 Nios, and Aura models, which do not feature ESC and Hill-Start Assist Control across all variants.

Hyundai has also sent three of its models to Bharat NCAP for crash testing. While Hyundai has not yet disclosed which specific models are part of this initiative, the results of these tests are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
