Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has officially entered the electric vehicle (EV) market with the unveiling of its first-ever EVs, the Activa e: and QC1. The launch event took place in Bengaluru, Karnataka, marking a significant step toward sustainable mobility in India. Bookings for these models will open on January 1, 2025, with deliveries starting in February 2025.

HMSI's Managing Director, President & CEO, Tsutsumu Otani, emphasised, aligning it with Honda’s global 'Triple Action to ZERO' vision to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. “With Activa e: and QC1, we are building one of India’s best EV ecosystems while focusing on a sustainable and safer future,” he said.

Honda Activa e: Redefining Legacy

The Activa e: represents Honda's electrified reimagining of the iconic Activa brand.

  • Design: Retains Activa's classic silhouette with modern touches like dual-tone seats, LED headlamps, and 12-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
  • Features: A 7-inch TFT screen with Honda RoadSync Duo® offers navigation, day/night modes, and connectivity options. Honda’s H-Smart key further enhances the user experience with features like Smart Find and Smart Unlock.
  • Battery Technology: Features swappable batteries developed by Honda Power Pack Energy India. Offering a range of 102 km per charge, these can be swapped at Honda’s BeX swapping stations operational in Bengaluru, Delhi, and soon Mumbai.

The Activa e: also boasts a top speed of 80 km/h and three riding modes: Econ, Standard, and Sport.

Honda QC1: Compact & Versatile

Designed for seamless urban commutes, the Honda QC1 combines sleek aesthetics with functional features.

  • Battery: A fixed 1.5 kWh battery delivers an 80 km range on a single charge. It supports home charging, reaching 80% in 4.5 hours.
  • Performance: Equipped with a 1.8 kW in-wheel motor, the QC1 reaches a top speed of 50 km/h and offers Standard and Econ riding modes.
  • Convenience: Features include a 5-inch LCD display, USB Type-C charging port, and a 26-litre under-seat storage compartment.

Ownership Experience

Both models will be manufactured at HMSI’s Narsapura plant near Bengaluru and come with:

  • Warranty: 3 years or 50,000 km
  • Services: Three free services in the first year
  • Free Roadside Assistance: Included for one year

Launch Details

The Activa e: will debut in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, while the QC1 will launch in select cities starting February 2025. With this move, Honda aims to elevate the EV ownership experience and meet the evolving demands of Indian consumers.
