The company claims that new Softail motorcycles feature a stiffer and significantly lighter frame which is built to harness the high torque output of the new dual-counterbalanced Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine.
Motorcycle maker Harley Davidson launches the 2018 Softail Deluxe and Low Rider in India at Rs 17.99 lakh and Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom). For the very first time, these Softail cruisers have been launched in India. The company has also introduced a special anniversary edition of the existing Fat Boy with a price tag of Rs 19.79 lakh (ex-showroom).
In addition to this, the US Motorcycle launched the 2018 Softail range of motorcycles in the region. The price of the motorcycles ranges between Rs 12.01 lakh for Steel Bob, Rs 14.01 lakh for Fat Bob and Rs 17.51 lakh for Fat Boy (all ex-showroom), Western Ghats Harley Davidson Chapter Manager, Rashad A R told reporters on the sidelines of the launch.
The motorcycles, designed under the largest product development project in the company's history, feature stiffer and significantly lighter frames that harnesses the high torque output to the new dual counter balanced Mitwaukee Eight 107 Engine, he said.
According to a TOI report, the new bikes have been introduced in addition to the four Softail models – the 2018 Fat Boy, Fat Bob, Street Bob and the Heritage Classic – which were launched in October last year.
The company claims that new Softail motorcycles feature a stiffer and significantly lighter frame which is built to harness the high torque output of the new dual-counterbalanced Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine.
The company reportedly said the dual-bending valve front suspension and an easily adjustable hidden rear monoshock provide the 2018 Softail models with better handling than before.
The Harley-Davidson Low Rider is inspired by ‘70s custom choppers, having a very low and mean stance. The bike features 19-inch front and 16-inch rear wheels along with throwback-style dual tank mount speedo.
The Softail Deluxe is a retro-modern cruiser that offers a classic styling with new level of finishes. The bike features LED headlamps, signature pullback handlebar, Tombstone tail light and blade-like turn signals. Both the bikes get Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) as a standard feature, said TOI.
“The Indian market has evolved and customers look forward to innovation in technology and comfort. This is evident from the growth in the leisure riding segment for premium motorcycles. We have received an excellent response to the MY18 Softail lineup so far and we are excited to introduce these two new models that demonstrate our focus on reinventing products for motorcycle enthusiasts and aspiring riders in the country,” Peter MacKenzie, Managing Director, Harley-Davidson India and China said during the launch.
