Despite the presence of 2 airbags, the Mahindra Bolero Neo received only 1 star each for adult and child occupant safety. Alejandro Furas, General Secretary of Global NCAP, expressed disappointment over the low safety rating for Mahindra cars, stating that such performance was unexpected. “We were disappointed to see Mahindra’s one star rating for the Bolero Neo. This falls well below the safety performance we have come to expect from the manufacturer," he said.

The Kia Carens initially received 0 stars for adult occupant protection and 4 stars for child occupant protection. However, after the company added some safety features and the car was retested under a new protocol, it received 3 stars for adult occupant protection and 5 stars for child occupant protection in the latest Global NCAP report.
