Gensol gets ARAI certification for upcoming EV - Heres what it means
The company has said that the new electric car will be manufactured at the state-of-the-art greenfield plant in Chakan, Pune, with an annual production capacity of 30,000 cars.
Gensol Engineering Ltd has announced that its subsidiary - Gensol Electric Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. (GEVPL) - has received Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) certification for its upcoming 2-door, 2-seater electric vehicle.
Why ARAI Certification is Important?
The certificate is important for the company as it will pave the path for the EV's official launch and sale in the Indian market.
This certification process carefully evaluates a vehicle’s performance, safety, and compliance with vehicle regulatory norms.
This certification culminates the vehicle homologation process, which involves vehicle testing both in controlled lab environments and on diverse terrain conditions.
Commenting on the development, Anmol Singh Jaggi, Chairman and Managing Director, Gensol Engineering Limited said that the company is committed to bringing its first made-in-India electric vehicle to the market with full compliance with ARAI regulations.
"We are incredibly proud to have developed a vehicle that meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance parameters, and matches up to the requirements of the certification,” he added.

The EV will have features like a moonroof, ample boot space, in-cabin driver assistance technology, a comprehensive technology stack, AI-driven cloud analytics and a uniquely intuitive user experience.
