Driving License Renew Online: So, your driving license has expired? Wondering whether to step out amidst this second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic for renewal of the license. Well, for your information, you must note that Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) had issued a notification in the month of March this year in which it stated 18 license-related contactless services which can be availed via Aadhaar authentication including the renewal of the driving license. One can simply renew one's driving license now by logging in to the Parivahan Sewa portal of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways at parivahan.gov.in.

According to a DNA report, the validity of a driving license lasts for 20 years or until the license holder becomes 50 years of age whichever is earlier. When this validity expires, one has to renew the driving license within a year. If the driving license is not renewed within a year then an individual will have to go through a whole lot of processes of getting the license again. This validity is applicable to all the states and the union territories of the country.

In order to renew one's driving license, one has to follow some simple steps. By following these simple steps, one will be able to renew his or her driving license from the comforts of home. The steps are as follows:

Step 1: One will have to login to the website of  Parivahan Sewa portal of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways at parivahan.gov.in.

Step 2: Now, one has to click on the "Online Services' tab at the top of the home page and select "Driving License related Services' from the options

Step 3: Now, this will redirect one to a new page where one will have to select the name of his or her state

Step 4: Now, one will have to select the 'Apply for DL Renewal' among the various options in the new page that has opened after the selection of the state

Step 5: One  will get a page showing instructions for application submission. Next, one has to fill in the application

Step 6: One has to now upload document if any document is required

Step 7: In case of certain states, one may also need to upload a photo and signature

Step 8: After all these, one has to make the payment and verify the payment status

Step 9: Now one can download the receipt and take a print out of the same for future reference
