At the time when pollution levels are shooting up in an alarming manner and Modi government is heavily focussed on electric mobility, a British electric bike maker, which manufactures premium electric performance bikes, has announced its entry into the Indian electric vehicle market. GoZero Mobility has launched two of its flagship products 'One' and 'Mile' electric bikes at an event in New Delhi. GoZero says that these products have been launched after a year of design and technology development in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Noteworthy, Indian is one of the largest 2 wheeler and bicycle markets in the world.

GoZero One is powered with 400Wh lithium battery pack which is optimized to provide 60 Kms of range on single charge. Its price is Rs 32,999 (inclusive of taxes). 

GoZero Mile is powered with 300Wh lithium battery pack which provides 45 kms range. Mile comes at Rs. 29,999 (inclusive of taxes).

GoZero Mobility has joined hands with Kolkata-based Kirti Solar to develop and manufacture the British e-bike maker's current and future products, utilizing the global supply chain to “Make in India”. Kirti Solar has invested USD 250,000 in GoZero Mobility. 

GoZero Mobility said that manufacturing of e-bikes is going to take place from Kolkata, West Bengal with an initial capacity of 20,000 units per annum. 

Speaking to Zee Busines Online after the launch of One and Mile, GoZero Mobility CEO, Ankit Kumar said, "It's an apt time for GoZero to launch its products in India. We want people to remain fit and healthy, and electric bikes play a major role in contributing towards tackling air pollution and vehicular congestion, especially at the time when pollution level is witnessing an alarming situation."

Bicycle industry in India

Indian bicycle market currently stands at 16.5 lakh units and the premium bicycle market is roughly 350,000. 

Sales targets

GoZero Mobility anticipates to sell 3000 units in the first year and scale up to 75,000 in next 5 years.

GoZero Mobility is expected to launch a series of electric bikes - DelivR, One W & Zero Smart - in the year 2019.
