As a performance-oriented model, the spotlight naturally falls on its powerhouse. The rejuvenated M4 Competition houses a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter, straight-six petrol engine, generating an impressive 530hp and 650Nm of peak torque. While the torque output remains consistent, there's a notable boost of 20hp in power compared to its predecessor.

The engine remains paired with a ZF-sourced 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, maintaining the all-wheel-drive configuration. Despite the power bump, BMW asserts that the 0-100 kph acceleration time remains unchanged at 3.5 seconds.

BMW M4 Competition facelift: Exterior

Aesthetically, the M4 Competition retains its distinctive appearance, highlighted by its somewhat polarising kidney grille. However, attention to detail defines the updates. It boasts new adaptive LED headlamps featuring a fresh signature for the LED DRLs, alongside new tail-lamps inspired by the M4 CSL, showcasing an intricate woven LED pattern. Additionally, the vehicle now sports new 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, complemented by blue high-gloss brake callipers (with red as an optional choice), amplifying its sporty allure.

Furthermore, the M4 incorporates a carbon fiber roof, not only reducing weight but also contributing to a lowered center of gravity. Other enhancements include a gloss black base for the BMW logo and a silver surround for the M logo. Enthusiasts can opt for the M Carbon exterior package, which incorporates inserts for the front air intakes, rear diffuser, mirror caps, and an exclusive CFP rear spoiler.

BMW M4 Competition facelift: Features

Stepping inside, drivers are greeted by a new three-spoke M leather steering wheel adorned with a flattened bottom and a striking red 12 o’clock marker (also available in optional Alcantara). Carbon fiber accents adorn the cabin, elevating the overall aesthetic. The dashboard receives an update with BMW’s latest curved infotainment screens, comprising a 14.9-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, running on the latest BMW Operating System 8.5. Standard M sports seats with ventilation and heating enhance comfort, while new trim options provide further customisation.

The BMW M4 Competition finds itself in competition with the Audi RS5 Sportback in India, despite the latter being a four-door, as well as the forthcoming Mercedes-AMG C 63 sedan.
