Battery swapping policy: NITI Aayog hold discussion on EV batteries today; policy may get implemented this year

Battery Swapping Policy: In order to promote the use of electric vehicles in the country, the government is setting a target to implement the Battery Swapping Policy this year. An important meeting was also held in NITI Aayog today to discuss this issue. All the concerned ministries participated in this meeting.
According to the source, there has been a discussion on standardization for the battery in the meeting. There will be a standard battery for all vehicles of the same type. In addition, tax-related issues for vehicles including batteries, and without batteries have also been discussed.
It is to be noted that the Government of India had sought suggestions from all stakeholders on the battery swapping policy by June 5. This is the first meeting after the suggestion on the draft.
Apart from this, a meeting of auto companies can also be called soon. ARAI and BIS are working on the design of the vehicles, said the source.
