While Maruti Suzuki India, the country's largest carmaker, registered a total sales reading that just met analysts' estimates, Tata Motors reported a mixed set of numbers with domestic PV sales exceeding expectations but CV sales falling short of estimates. Mahindra & Mahindra missed expectations in terms of total sales, with tractor sales falling as much as 26 per cent.

The motorcycle and scooter maker expects to record double-digit growth in revenue in the current financial year, which began on April 1.
