Auto sales LIVE: Maruti Suzuki, Hero MotoCorp sales exceed analyst estimates in March 2023; Tata Motors a mixed bag

Auto sales March 2023 | How Street reacts to monthly sales numbers

A majority of stocks in the auto basket on Dalal Street strengthened on Monday, led by Maruti Suzuki and Hero MotoCorp. 

Here are some highlights of Ashok Leyland's sales report: 

• Total sales up 23 per cent at 22,885 vehicles
• Total medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales up 25 per cent at 15,936 units 

Bajaj Auto is yet to report its monthly sales data.

Auto sales 2023 | Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) total sales up 21% 

Here are some highlights: 

• M&M total sales at 66,091
• Tractor sales up 13 per cent at 33,622 units, exports down 16 per cent at 1,392
• Domestic PV sales up 30 per cent at 35,997 units
• Domestic utility vehicle sales up 31 per cent at 35,976 units
• CV sales up 12 per cent at 22,282 units

Auto sales March 2023 | VST Tillers Tractors total sales surge 71.3%  

Here are some highlights: 

• Total sales at 6,468 units
• Power tillers sales grow 80.9 per cent to 5,596 units 
• Tractor sales expand 27.6 per cent to 872 units

Auto sales March 2023 | TVS Motor two-wheeler sales up 5%, exceed analyst expectations

Here are some highlights: 

• Two-wheeler sales up five per cent at 3,07,559 units
• Total sales up three per cent at 3,17,152 vehicles
• Domestic two-wheeler sales up 22 per cent at 2,40,780 units   
• Exports decline 31.6 per cent to 75,035 vehicles

According to Zee Business research, the auto maker's two-wheeler sales were estimated at 2,85,500 units and total sales pegged at 2,95,500 units. 

Auto Sales March 2023 | Hero MotoCorp beats analysts' expectations with monthly sales

Hero MotoCorp reports two-wheeler sales of 5,19,342 units last month, growth of 15.4 per cent compared with the year-ago period.

According to Zee Business research, the auto maker's monthly sales were estimated at 4,90,000. 

Its total sales in the domestic market increase 20.9 per cent to 5,02,730 vehicles, including exports of 16,612 vehicles. The exports are down 51.7 per cent.

Auto sales LIVE | Royal Enfield March 2023 sales meet analysts' expectations

Eicher Motors subsidiary Royal Enfield sold 72,235 motorcycles last month, marking an increase of seven per cent compared with March 2022.

According to Zee Business research, Royal Enfield was estimated to report sales of 72,000 in the month. 

Auto sales LIVE | Tata Motors domestic passenger vehicle sales rise 4%

The Tata group auto giant reports sales of 44,044 passenger vehicles in the domestic market in March 2023, an increase of 4.1 per cent compared with the corresponding period a year ago. The sales figure, however, has fallen short of analysts' estimates. 

Tata Motors reports a 0.5 per cent decline in total commercial vehicle sales to 46,823 units. 

According to Zee Business research, Tata Motors passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market were estimated at 47,000 and commercial vehicles at 45,000.   

Total sales in the domestic market increase three per cent to 86,718 vehicles. 

Auo sales LIVE | Maruti Suzuki domestic sales down 0.6% in March 2023 

Maruti Suzuki India, the country's largest carmaker, reported total domestic sales of 1,36,787 vehicles in March 2023, down 0.6 per cent on a year-on-year basis. 

The auto major, whose popular models include Baleno, Dzire, Wagon R and Alto, sold a total of 1,32,763 passenger vehicles (PVs) in the domestic market last month, down 0.8 per cent compared with the corresponding period a year ago.

Auto sales March 2023 | Maruti Suzuki likely to report 8% decline in sales; M&M, Tata Motors sales may grow    

According to Zee Business research, the country's largest carmaker — Maruti Suzuki India — is likely to report an eight per cent year-on-year decline in sales in March 2023.

Analysts estimate it to be a mixed bag for the auto space in the country with fewer hits than misses.
