Auto sales | Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) passenger vehicle sales jump 54% in April
Mahindra & Mahindra — the maker of the XUV 400 EV — sold 34,698 passenger vehicles last month, as against 22,526 in April 2022, according to a company statement.
Here are some highlights:
- SUV sales up 57 per cent at 34,694
- Total sales (including exports) at 62,294 vehicles vs 45,640 a year ago
- Company says growth continues after a recordbreaking 2022-23
- CV sales growth at 16 per cent in April
- M&M says it continues to keep a close watch on dynamic supply chain situation, calls it an industry phenomenon
M&M shares are flat at this hour at Rs 1,226.1 apiece on BSE, having moved within Rs 15 around the flatline, between Rs 1,217.5 and Rs 1,232, earlier in the day.
Maruti Suzuki sales | Sales in compact segment, Baleno, Dzire, Swift, WagonR etc) jump 26.6%
The carmaker reports sales of 74,935 cars in its compact segment, which comprises Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S and WagonR , as against 59,184 vehicles a year ago.

Maruti Suzuki sales | India's biggest carmaker sells 12.6% more passenger vehicles in domestic market in April 2023 vs April 2022
Maruti Suzuki India — the country's largest carmaker — sells 1,37,320 passenger vehicles in the domestic market in April 2023 as against 1,21,995 in the corresponding month a year agom an increase of 12.6 per cent compared with the year-ago period.
Exports by Maruti Suzuki — whose passenger car portfolio includes Alto, Baleno, Swift, WagonR, Brezza and S-Cross — contract 7.8 per cent to 16,971 vehicles, according to a company statement.
The company's total sales — comprising domestic sales and exports — come in at 1,60,529 vehicles as against 1,50,661 in the year-ago period.

Maruti Suzuki met, Tata Motors fell short of analysts' estimates
- Maruti Suzuki total sales down 0.2 per cent on year-on-year basis at 1,70,071 in March; Zee Business analysts had estimated company's total sales at 1,57,500
- Tata Motors domestic PV sales up 4.1 per cent at 44,044 units vs estimate of 47,000; CV sales down 0.5 per cent at 46,823 vs estimate of 45,000
- Hero MotoCorp two-wheeler sales up 15.4 per cent at 5,19,342 vs estimate of 4,90,000
- Bajaj Auto two-wheeler sales down 3.6 per cent at 2,47,002 vs estimate of 2,36,000
- Eicher Motors VECV sales up 35.2 per cent at 11,906 vs estimate of 9,600: Royal Enfield sales up seven per cent at 72,235 vs estimate of 72,000
- TVS Motor two-wheeler sales up five per cent at 3,07,559 vs estimate of 2,85,500
