Toyota Rumion MPV set for launch in India by September; check prices
Toyota Rumion will essentially be a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. It will be developed as part of the partnership between the two companies.
Toyota is gearing up for yet another launch in the Indian market. The Japanese auto brand is set to introduce the Rumion MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) in September this year. The upcoming MPV will essentially be a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and will be developed as part of the partnership between the two companies. The car has already been on sale in the South African market since 2021. The Rumion will be the most affordable in the Toyota MPV lineup that features the Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross and Vellfire in India.
Toyota Rumion features
Since Toyota Rumion will be a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, the basic design language are likely to remain the same with a few tweaks to set both cars apart. The global version of the Toyota MPV which is already in sale in South Africa features a distinct grille, all-black upholstery, and re-designed alloys with a Toyota's badging all along. The headlight design, however, remains unchanged.
In terms of features, the MPV will come loaded with an infotainment system that features a touchscreen display and connectivity option. In terms of safety, the Toyota Rumion will get multiple airbags, ABS with EBS, traction control and a parking sensor as standard.
The engine of Toyota Rumion
Powering the Toyota Rumion will be the same 1.5-litre K-series naturally aspirated petrol engine that's offered with the Ertiga. The unit is tuned to churn out 103 bhp power and 138 Nm of peak torque. It is offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. A bi-fuel or CNG variant may also be offered by the brand, however, confirmation is still awaited.
Toyota Rumion Price
Toyota Rumion MPV is likely to be priced in the same segment as Maruti Suzuki Eritga which is available in India at an ex-showroom price ranging between Rs 8.64 and Rs 13.08 lakh. The final pricing, however, will also be clear after the official launch. The upcoming will take on Kia Carens and the Ertiga in terms of competition.
