Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show: UP-Vietnam partnership set to open doors to South Asian and ASEAN markets
On the second day of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show, held at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, various knowledge sessions were conducted. These included the India-Vietnam Business Forum, an e-commerce session, and a session on innovation and startups organised by Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU).
In these sessions, a commitment was made to strengthening the UP-Vietnam partnership to facilitate the entry of Uttar Pradesh products into South Asian and ASEAN markets. Simultaneously, during the e-commerce, innovation, and startup session, insights were provided on Uttar Pradesh's role in the evolving digital ecosystem both nationally and globally.
Focus was also laid on the sectoral policies made under the guidance of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during the sessions. The event attracted significant attention, with over 40,000 visitors attending on the second day.
The five-day program, which commenced on Wednesday in the presence of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, CM Adityanath, and Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, is set to conclude on September 29. On the second day, over 18,000 buyers and more than 40,000 visitors participated in this global industry event.
During this, several key officials, including Cabinet Minister for MSME Rakesh Sachan, Electronics and Information Technology Minister Sunil Kumar Sharma, and Meerut Commissioner Shilvi Kumari, along with representatives from global corporations, attended various sessions and programs on behalf of the Yogi government.
The first session of the sectoral discussions held under UPITS 2024 on Thursday focused on the strategic partnership between India and Vietnam, with a particular emphasis on Uttar Pradesh's involvement. Organised by Vietnam as the partner country, the session saw participation from the Vietnamese delegation, including Vietnam's Ambassador, Nguyen Thanh Hai.
Representing the Yogi government, several officials attended, including Cabinet Minister for MSME Rakesh Sachan, Electronics and Information Technology Minister Sunil Kumar Sharma, and Principal Secretary of the MSME Department, Alok Kumar.
During the program, discussions highlighted how Vietnam and India could leverage each other's strategic locations as gateways to South Asian and ASEAN markets, respectively. This initiative is expected to facilitate the entry of Uttar Pradesh's products into these regions.
On this occasion, Rakesh Sachan emphasized the ancient cultural ties between India and Vietnam, which make them natural partners. He also invited investors, particularly in the tourism and hospitality sectors, to explore investment opportunities in Uttar Pradesh, which has become a prominent spiritual destination in India.
The second session of the program focused on the e-commerce sector, featuring insights from major companies such as global e-commerce leader Amazon, top-tier fintech platform PingPong, and BigCommerce, known for its work with retailers. These industry giants shared invaluable insights and practical strategies with the attendees.
During this session, Rakesh Sachan underscored the government's commitment to empowering small and medium enterprises through digital transformation, fostering innovation, and enhancing market access via e-commerce platforms.
On Thursday, three back-to-back sessions were organized for entrepreneurs, emerging industries, startups, and aspiring business owners as part of various knowledge sessions. The 'Innovation and Start-up' session was facilitated by Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU).
During this session, information was shared about initiatives aimed at promoting excellence within AKTU.
Vice Chancellor Professor JP Pandey made a presentation on the 'Journey from Academic Excellence to Entrepreneurship'.
Additionally, Maheep Singh, Head of the AKTU Innovation Hub, and Vandana Sharma, Manager of the Innovation Hub, discussed how the innovation hub is empowering entrepreneurs and startups in Uttar Pradesh and creating pathways for funding local ventures.
