Crude oil rose by Rs 48 to Rs 3,358 per barrel in futures market today as speculators indulged in creating speculative positions, taking positive cues from Asian markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in October was trading higher by Rs 48, or 1.45 per cent, to Rs 3,358 per barrel, in a business turnover of 6,293 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in November gained Rs 48, or 1.44 per cent, to Rs 3,386 per barrel in 809 lots.

Analysts said speculative positions created by traders as oil prices edged up in Asia today.

Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate gained 0.80 per cent, to USD 51.86 while global benchmark Brent was up 1.07 per cent to USD 57.78 a barrel.
