GST Amnesty Scheme – Unable to file GST returns and take benefit, businesses urge government to do THIS

The government has been making changes in the law to remove teething problems from time-to-time. The government has also recently launched the GST Amnesty scheme. This scheme is valid for the period between July 2017 and April 2021.
However, the businesses are unable to take advantage of this scheme as this scheme will apply if the GST returns are filed till 31 August 2021.

The businesses have been facing problems as their registrations have been cancelled because of their failure to file returns. The timeline of 90 days for restoring the registration has also ended. If the registration has been cancelled in this way and then in order to restore the registration it takes 90 days time.
The businesses have been unable to file the GST returns and also pay due taxes because of the suspension of the registration.
Many organisations across the country have appealed to the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to give relaxations on this regard. They have said that this will also help the exchequer to earn some revenues.
