Budget 2024: Finance Minister kicks off Interim Budget process with halwa ceremony in North Block
According to a Finance Ministry statement, all Union Budget documents, including the Annual Financial Statement (commonly known as the Budget), Demand for Grants, Finance Bill, and other documents required by the Constitution, will be available on the "Union Budget Mobile App" for easy access by MPs and the general public.
Budget 2024: The Halwa ceremony, which marks the final stage of preparation for the Interim Union Budget 2024, was held in North Block on Wednesday in the presence of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of State for Finance Dr. Bhagwat Kisanrao Karad. Every year, the customary Halwa ceremony is held before the "lock-in" process of budget creation begins, after which officials involved in the budget making exercise are not permitted to leave North Block.
Like the previous three full Union Budgets, the Interim Union Budget 2024 will also be presented in paperless form. The Finance Ministry said that it will be delivered on February 1.
