WhatsApp drops support feature of YouTube for iOS 10 and below version users

If you are an iOS 11 user,  then only you can open in-chat YouTube feature. Popular messaging app WhatsApp has reportedly dropped the support of YouTube for iOS 10 users and below. Earlier, the feature was available for all iOS users. The Facebook-owned app has now remotely disabled the YouTube support for iOS 10 and below versions, according to reports. WhatsApp rolled out in-chat YouTube feature to Apple iPhone users, allowing them to watch videos from the app in 2017. 

In order to enhance the user experience, the messaging app added Picture-in-Picture support to the feature. WhatsApp earlier rolled out PiP feature for YouTube. With this feature, one can minimise the video and chat on WhatsApp.  Earlier, even users of below iOS 10 could also use this feature. Through this feature, a video can be opened in WhatsApp itself, rather than redirecting to the YouTube app. In Android, a YouTube is redirected to the YouTube app when clicked in the WhatsApp app.

The popular messaging app has had remotely disabled the feature for iOS 10 and below users from today, according to Telecom Talk. With Facebook taking over WhatsApp, it is expected former is going to bring drastic change in the coming days.  The instant messaging co-founder Jan Koum resigned from WhatsApp. According to reports, his resignation was following disagreement over data privacy.  The departure of Jan Koum was announced at a time when Facebook was going through tough time, as data breach controversy irrupts.  Cambridge Analytica episode is still haunting the tech giant. WhatsApp group video calling and WhatsApp Stickers features are some of the latest additions in the app after Facebook took over. Following the worldwide outrage over the users' data breach, Facebook has taken various measures. However,  concerns over data privacy still prevail among the people.
