7th Pay Commission: Diwali is approaching fast and lakhs and lakhs of government employees are yet to get their pay hike demands fulfilled. However, there is one government that has moved to address the needs of employees by clearing their demands, thereby bringing Diwali gifts just in time for this holy festival. The Delhi government has approved the revision of pay scales in line with the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission.
A Delhi government statement said that the Cabinet has approved the 7th pay commission linked Department of Higher Education's proposal for the grant of revised pay scales to teachers and equivalent cadres and administrative posts in universities and colleges. The teachers will get the revised pay on pro-rata basis effective from January 1, 2016. The remuneration was increased to Rs 1,403 per day from earlier Rs 1,050 per day.
While these employees have received their Diwali gift, the central government employees working in the heart of the Delhi and across the country are still waiting for the over and above 7th pay commission report recommended pay hike. The central staff has been demanding pay hike as per the fitment factor of 3.68 times. This will set the minimum salary at Rs 26,000. The employees are getting the salary as per the fitment factor of 2.57 times as recommended by the 7th pay commission.
