Indian equities succumbed to profit-taking after hitting fresh highs on the Nifty 50 index in intra-day trade. At the close, the 30-share BSE Sensex declined 269.03 points or 0.35 per cent to settle at 77,209.9, while the NSE Nifty slipped 65.9 points or 0.28 per cent to settle at 23,501.1. Meanwhile broader markets also ended in the red after notching fresh record highs today.
