NSE indices semi-annual adjustment due today; analysts peg Shriram Finance inflows at Rs 1,570 crore
A semi-annual rejig of key NSE indices is due at the end of the day’s trade on Wednesday, March 27, which will see non-banking financial company Shriram Finance replace agrochemicals producer UPL in the headline Nifty 50 index. Stock exchange NSE announced the changes, spanning a host of indices including Nifty50, Nifty Next50, Nifty 100, Nifty Midcap 100, Nifty Nifty Smallcap 100, and Nifty 500, on February 28.
HPCL, BPCL, IOCL gain as Citi remains bullish on OMCs; Mahanagar Gas also rises
Shares of oil marketing companies (OMCs) such as BPCL, IOCL, and HPCL rose in the morning deals on March 27 after Citi remained bullish on the companies, despite 70 per cent to 80 per cent up moves in these counters in the past six months.
The brokerage believes that OMCs will benefit from a discernible shift in the government's stance towards public sector undertakings (PSUs).
Japan’s yen hits 34-year low: Check out the three Indian stocks that stand to benefit
The weakness in Japan’s domestic currency, the yen, which hit its 34-year low in Wednesday’s session (March 27), is said to bode well for three Indian auto and auto ancillary companies, including Maruti Suzuki, Lumax Industries, and JTEKT India.
During the session, the yen traded at 151.97 per dollar, down about 0.2 per cent as per a Reuters report, tumbling to its lowest level since 1990.
Wockhardt shares locked in 5% upper circuit after its Rs 480 crore QIP issue
Shares of the small-cap pharma major Wockhardt were locked in the 5 per cent upper circuit at Rs 555.8 apiece on the BSE in Wednesday's session (March 27, 2024) as the company amassed Rs 480 crore via the QIP (qualified institutional placement) issue.
On the previous day, the stock closed at Rs 529.35 apiece on the BSE.
Precious metals trade flat; yellow metal above Rs 66,150; white metal above Rs 74,400
Domestic precious metal futures on Wednesday traded flat as investor focus shifted to US data later this week that could influence the nation’s monetary easing trajectory.
Last seen, MCX gold futures (Apr 5) were flat with a positive bias at Rs 66,153 per 10 grams at the last count, having traded between Rs 66,077 and Rs 66,204 earlier in the day. MCX Silver futures (May 5) were flat with a negative bias Rs 74,469 per kg.

Angel One soars over 6% after stockbroking firm launches QIP
Angel One shares dipped in the morning session but made a fast recovery to go higher by over six per cent on BSE on Wednesday (March 27, 2024) after it launched its Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP) offer.
The stock, which opened at Rs 2748.95 on Wednesday after the previous close of Rs 2727.60, dipped by 2.69 per cent minutes after the trading session started.
Sanofi India, Cipla shares rise on exclusive distribution tie-up
Shares of pharmaceutical companies Sanofi India and Cipla gained on Wednesday, March 27, after the firms announced an exclusive distribution tie-up for expanding the reach of Sanofi’s Central Nervous System (CNS) portfolio, including its six brands.
Sanofi India shares surged as much as 3.77 per cent to the day's high of Rs 7,999 in early morning deals on the NSE. At 9:41 AM, the counter traded 2.35 per cent higher at Rs 7,889.25 on the NSE.
