Markets extend rally for 3rd day in row; Sensex ends 550 points higher, Nifty above 17450; SBI top gainer
Stock Market Highlights: Stock markets ended in green for the third consecutive day on Tuesday amid firm global market trends. The 30-share BSE benchmark climbed 549.62 points to close at 58,960.60. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty surged 175.15 points to 17,486.95 at the end of the session. State Bank of India (SBI) was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, followed by Nestle India and ITC. On the flip side, HDFC and NTPC were among the top laggards.
Other Asian markets in Seoul, Tokyo and Hong Kong ended with gains, while Shanghai settled lower. Stock exchanges in Europe were trading in the positive territory in mid-session deals. Wall Street had ended significantly higher on Monday.
International oil benchmark Brent crude was trading 0.65 per cent lower at USD 91.02 per barrel. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) remained net sellers in the Indian capital market on Monday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 372.03 crore, as per exchange data.
The BSE benchmark had jumped 491.01 points or 0.85 per cent to settle at 58,410.98 on Monday. The Nifty climbed 126.10 points or 0.73 per cent to end at 17,311.80.
In other Asian markets, bourses in Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai and Hong Kong were trading with gains in mid-session deals. Wall Street ended significantly higher on Monday.
