Railway recruitment 2018: As per the notified syllabus, the candidates applying for RRB ALP and Technician will have to undergo a four-stage recruitment process and they are First Stage CBT, Second Stage CBT, Computer Based Aptitude Test and Document Verification. Dates for Railway recruitment 2018 examination has not been released but it will be scheduled in the month of April or May 2018

Syllabus to be covered in the first stage of CBT includes
Mathematics Syllabus: Number System, BODMAS, HCF and LCM, Decimals, Fractions, Ratio and Proportion, Age Calculations, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Percentages, Mensuration, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Elementary Statistics, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Square root, Calender and clock and Pipes and Cisterns etc.
General Awareness on Current Affairs: Science and Technology, Economics, Culture, Sports, Personalities, Politics and other subjects of importance.
General Science: The syllabus under this will cover Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of 10th Standard Level.
General Intelligence and Reasoning Syllabus: Analogies, Coding and Decoding, Alphabetical and Number Series, Relationships, Syllogism, Mathematical Operations, Similarities and Differences, Analytical Reasoning, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Jumbling, Conclusions and Decision Making, Classification, Directions, Statement- Arguments and Assumptions among others.
Syllabus to be covered in the second stage of CBT includes
The syllabus for the second stage CBT will have an addition of Basic Science and Engineering, while the syllabus for other subjects like Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning and General Awareness will be same as it was in Stage 1 CBT exam.
Sections to be covered in the Basic Science and Engineering exams includes
Engineering Drawing (Projections, Drawing Instruments, Views, Lines, Symbolic Representation and Geometric Figures). Other topics to be covered in the exam are Units; measurements; Mass, Weight, and Density; Speed and Velocity; Work Power and Energy; Basic Electricity; Heat and Temperature; Levers and Simple Machines; Occupational Safety and Health; Environment Education and IT Literacy among others.
Exam pattern for CBTs
First Stage CBT Round: This round is common for both ALP and Technician. The candidates will be asked to answer 75 questions in 60 minutes. The questions will be objective type with multiple choice questions.
