New 100 Rupee Note 2018: Just a couple of days ago, reports had indicated that there would be an announcement about a new Rs 100 note that would be coloured differently and that has come true now. "The new denomination has Motif of “RANI KI VAV” on the reverse, depicting the country’s cultural heritage. The base colour of the note is Lavender. The note has other designs, geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme, both at the obverse and reverse. Dimension of the banknote will be 66 mm × 142 mm," the statement further said.
The Reserve Bank of India today has announced that it will soon launch lavender-coloured Rs 100 new notes. The new Rs 100 currency note will join the list of new designs of Rs 2000, Rs 200, Rs 500, Rs 10 issued over the last couple of years since demonetisation. The RBI statement said, "The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue Rs 100 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series, bearing signature of Dr. Urjit R. Patel, Governor, Reserve Bank of India."

It however, clarified that "all the banknotes in the denomination of ₹ 100/- issued by the Reserve Bank in the earlier series will continue to be legal tender," adding "As is normal, when a new design of banknote is introduced, printing and supply of these notes for distribution to public through the banking channel will gradually increase."
