According to officials, YouTube channel World Best News, which had over 1.7 million subscribers and more than 18 crore views, was found to be misrepresenting the Indian Army.
Channel Educational Dost, with over 3.43 million subscribers and 23 crore views, was accused of spreading false information about government schemes. Similarly, SPN9 News, with over 4.8 million subscribers and 189 crore views, was accused of propagating fake news regarding India's President, Prime Minister, and several central ministers.
According to officials, YouTube channel Sarkari Vlog, which has over 4.5 million subscribers and over 9.4 crore views, was discovered spreading false information about government schemes.
The channel 'KPS News', which had over one million subscribers and over 13 crore views, had been accused of spreading fake news regarding government schemes, orders, and decisions, such as the availability of cooking gas cylinders at ₹20 and petrol at ₹15 per litre.
'Capital TV' channel had over 3.5 million subscribers and over 160 crore views, and it was found to be spreading false information about India's Prime Minister, the central government, and orders regarding the implementation of the President's rule in West Bengal.
YouTube channel 'Yahan Sach Dekho' has over 3 million subscribers and over 100 million views, and it was found to be spreading false information about the Election Commission and the Chief Justice of India.
Among the banned channels are Educational Dost, SPN9 News, and Capital TV. World Best News was misrepresenting the Indian Army.
The government has reported that it had apprehended eight individuals.
Channel 'KPS News', with over one million subscribers and over 13 crore views, is disseminating false information about government schemes, orders, and decisions, such as the availability of cooking gas cylinders at Rs 20 and petrol at Rs 15 per litre.
Another channel, 'Earn India Tech,' with 31,000 subscribers and 3.6 million views, has been found to be spreading false information about the Aadhar card, the PAN card, and other related topics.
